"This is the Gospel of the Lord" (read by Deacon)

Christ crucified,
Saviour of the world

Faithful receive the Body and Blood of Christ

Roman Catholicism is the largest of the world religions, Catholic meaning universal. One of the first Bishops of the Midland District was John Milner, from Sedgley. The main act of worship is the Mass. A Church school in every parish is important to the Catholic church.

SS Peter & Paul is the oldest Post-Reformation Catholic Church in England.
Giffard House, 1733, was once a covert meeting place for (illegal) Catholics.
Consecrated in 1855 in a densely populated Catholic parish, the church, now isolated from its community, still has 500 worshippers weekly: many of Irish, Italian, East European stock, with many native English, some “cradle” Catholics, some converts.

To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be blessing and honor and glory
and might
for ever and ever.
(Revelation 5:13)

Jesus Christ is Head of the Church, the Bishop of Rome his vicar on earth.
